my parental controls switch to "clean" always when i use Apple Music. how to lock in on "explicit"?

From your post I understand that you would like to enable the option to list to explicit songs in Apple Music. If you are only able listen to the clean versions, then you might have a restriction set on your iPhone to limit it. On your iPhone go to Settings > General > Restrictions, and then scroll down until you see the Allowed Content section. There you will have the opportunity to change Music, Podcasts & News rating from Clean to Explicit.
