How do I manually lock the screen using the iMac

Two ways:

1. Press Ctrl-Shift-Eject (or Ctrl-Shift-Power if you do not have an eject key).

2. In keychain access' preferences, general tab, enable show status in menu bar (you have to do this only once).

Then, to lock your screen, click the lock in the menu bar and chose lock screen.
