Pages for iCloud couldn't connect to iCloud

Pages and Numbers for iCloud is giving me some glitches. First, a minor glitch is that I cannot see the "preview" of the document only a basic Pages or Numbers icon. Second, a major glitch is that I cannot download a copy or print a copy.

The error message that appears is "Pages for iCloud couldn't connect to iCloud" or "Numbers for iCloud couldn't connect to iCloud".

Yes, I am connected to the Internet. Yes, this happens on multiple computers (home desktop, work desktop, personal laptop, friend's desktop, friend's laptop.) Yes, I have plenty of space on iCloud...like 12GB available. It's really strange.

Ruling out computer/equipment set-up because it happens to me on all types of computers I'm left with one conclusion...My iCloud is corrupt? Is that even possible?

I spent several hours on the phone with a senior support advisor, Ricky, who was awesome to work with. He had remote view of my computer screen and together we went through every conceivable solution such as different browsers (Explorer, Chrome, Firefox) and yes, every aspect of the computer is up-to-date. Ricky was stumped.

So, I turn to you, the support community. Is it possible my iCloud is corrupted? Help!

Same problem here. Mine started at same time. I have tried to debug by using internet explorer, firefox and chrome but that did not work. Next step I tried on different machines on same network....did not fix it. Next Step I tried on different network.....did not fix it. Next Step I tired on Ubuntu with different browser on different network....did not fix.

I call Apple and spoke with support but they could not help me.

I am at a loss on this issue.....please help!

It's good to know the issue was resolved for 'heydanz' by purchasing the Pages app. For those of us who already have the Pages app I bring some good news. The group of engineers working with iWork for iCloud are looking into this issue. They have access to my iCloud account and my documents (Pages, Numbers and Keynote). With this special access they can see the glitches for themselves and investigate what's happening behind the scenes. Apple has great support teams and I have faith they can get this error resolved quickly. I will keep you posted with any new updates as I hear them.

Thank you everyone for adding your voice to this discussion thread. If this is happening to you, please let us and Apple know.

This afternoon I got a call from Apple's engineers who are working on the issue. They called to ask if they could extend their access into my iCloud account for four more days. They assured me they are actively seeking solutions to our problem. I know it's frustrating for all of us. I'm crossing my fingers hoping for a speedy fix! Again, thank you for adding your voice to this thread. I will keep you updated as I get any news.

Hello Djeppson,

Thank you for updating us the information from Apple. Just in case you can help to transfer this information to Apple engineer (if they contact you again 🙂):The Account might not be the only factor for us to see that error. Because I tried to ask my boyfriend to login to my icloud account and download the file for me by using his Computer (Windows and Linux), both works.

But on my side, no matter Windows or MAC browsers gave me that "couldn't connect to iCloud" error.

The only workaround I have so far is access my icloud document through Page.

So I ended up getting a free version of Pages, Keynote, and Numbers. If you use the Apps downloaded from the App Store you can use your files on iCloud. And actually, the apps are WAY BETTER than the online version. Just call Apple Support and let then know that you need pdf's or you need to download your docs immediately (for work or school, etc) and this bug is stopping you from doing that. I hope this helps. Hopefully Apple gets their act together to fix this.

I have been having the exact same issue and have done all the work arounds that I know. In the end the only thing that has worked for me is to send, share, or print from my iphone or ipad. It has worked every time that way but I really need it to work from my Macbook pro. Hoping for resolve very soon but until them I will have to wait.

Update: I also cannot create new docs on the beta version on the macbook pro. This is a new one to the other issues I have experienced.

I found a long winded solution. I had originally created my document in iCloud on my iMac but encountered the same problem. I could not print, share or download. But I found that If I opened pages on my iPhone, I could then open the same document there and send it to my Mac with Airdrop and open it in Pages on the Mac to print and share. Still very frustrating as these are my monthly client invoices that I need to get out. Hope that helps.

They took my information and log in information and said the engineers would be working on it and would get back to me, that was three days ago they said it would take 3-4 days for them to get back to me, but I have heard nothing.

I'm getting a little frustrated, I was talking to them for nearly 4 hours total, and finally said they couldn't help me, and said they would have to refer my case to the engineers.
