Q: Switched from iphone to android and still unable to receive group texts (still being sent as imessage)

I recently changed phone from an Iphone 4 to the samsung galaxy. Its been over a month and I still cannot receive group text messages from iphone users because they are still being sent as imessage despite deregistering my number and having my contacts delete the group conversations. I can get messages from certain iPhone users but not others. What steps can I recommend to my iPhone friends so that their messages start sending as a text message and not imessage? It is unrealistic to tell others to turn off imessage.

    Greetings kl070513,

If I understand you correctly, you changed phones from an iPhone to an Android phone and despite having deregistered from iMessage, some of your friends with iPhones are unable to send texts to you. Is this correct?

The following article describes methods for deregistering from iMessage - If you can’t get text messages from an iPhone.

If those methods do not produce a change, post back to let me know and we will see where to go from here.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

    Be well.
