I understand your friend gifted you a song from the iTunes Store. You clicked on the Redeem link in the email you received, but you don't see the song in your iTunes library, is that correct? The first thing I would suggest is to sign out of the iTunes Store, quit iTunes, and then launch the application again. Search for the song in your iTunes library. If you still don't see it, check to see if the download was interrupted:

Mac
- From the menu bar at the top of your computer screen, choose iTunes > Store > Check for Available Downloads.
- If any downloads are listed as unfinished, click resume.
Windows
- Turn on the iTunes menu bar by pressing the Control and B keys. Learn more about menus in iTunes for Windows.
- From the menu bar, choose iTunes > Store > Check for Available Downloads.
- If any downloads are listed as unfinished, click resume.
