Q: App auto update doesn't work anymore

For some reason my app auto update stopped working. I have it turned on but it won't do it.

I suspect it has something to do with the fact that I recently switched Appstore account. I was using a shared appstore account with my wife before, but now we switched over to using our own appstore account with joined a family plan.

It sounds all great, but then now I'm not sure how to fix the auto update? I don't want to uninstall and reinstall all the apps...

Did you switch Apple IDs? If you did, then those apps purchased under the former Apple ID cannot be transferred to your new Apple ID. So, those apps which you are expecting to be auto-updated (if they were purchased under the former Apple ID) on your new Apple ID never will. Any purchases made under one Apple ID cannot be transferred to another Apple ID. You'll need to re-purchase those apps under your new Apple ID.

If this is not the case, clarify your situation so we can better understand what's going on...

But they why am I able to update them then? If I manually press update, it works. But auto update doesn't, so now every day I must press update.

    See this article:

Turn on Automatic Downloads - Apple Support

    Specifically from that page:

"If you use Family Sharing and turn on Automatic Downloads, content that other members of your family buy won't automatically download to your devices. Only content that you've purchased with your Apple ID will download automatically."

This is not automatic download. I just want to update my apps. I don't want to press update button. every. single. day.

Log out of the iTunes Store on your device:

Settings>iTunes & App Store...tap your Apple ID, then select "Sign Out"

    Force Restart your device:

    Force Restart (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)

    1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.

    2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.

    3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

After the device has restarted, sign back in to the App Store as above.

If no luck, there could be servers issues since both of the below posts were posted in the last few hours or so. Maybe try again later or tomorrow
