My mac turns off when unplugged but turns on fine

I have a 13" macbook pro 2012 that turns off when unplugged from charger but when i disconnect the charger and try and turn it on again it turns on fine like normal the only problem is that if i disconnect my charger from my working mac it turns off 😟 please help
