After AppleMusic, music vanished

I have an mp3 I made 5 years ago of a meditation bell. The bell goes off twice at the beginning, again after 60 min and again after 5 more min. It is specifically for meditating. I've had it on my iPhone for years. After getting apple music, it's gone, and I see no way to get it back on my iPhone. I can no longer choose what to sync on my iPhone. So is this how AppleMusic works? If it isn't in the cloud, it's inaccessible from my iPhone? This seems to go for any music I didn't purchase through iTunes. I've searched the forums, but the only solution I've found is to update, but everything is up to date; my iMac, iPhone, iTunes & iPad are all up to date.

If this is how AppleMusic works, I want no part of it. I would gladly sacrifice access to AppleMusic in order to physically have MY music on my iPhone.

iPhone 6, iOS 8.4.1

Hello kguess,
I can understand your frustration with wanting to listen to a specific mp3 and now you seem to can't even sync them. Let's see if we can get this working the way you want them to.
I would check to see if you have the iCloud Music library enabled. If you have that option turned off, you should be able to sync music from iTunes like you were able to do before. Take a look at the article below for more details.
