why do I no longer see playlists when syncing music to iphone

I just joined Apple Music and just updated itunes. Now when I try to sync music to my iphone, I am no longer offered the option to sync specific playlists.

When I click on 'music' under my iphone in itunes it says 'icloud music is on' and only offers me the option to sync voice memos.

I like to create playlists and sync them to my iphone. How can I go back to doing this now?

iPhone 5c, iOS 8.4.1

Hi Qster5,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that you no longer see the option to sync playlists in iTunes after joining Apple Music. This is because, with Apple Music, all of your playlists are already available on your iPhone.

First in the Music application, select My Music in the bottom right and then choose Playlists at the top of the window.

Next, select All Playlists in the middle of the screen, shown in-between Edit and New in the attached image (page 74 from attached User Guide). Make sure the selection for Show Music Available Offline is turned off. If it is turned off, you will be able to see all of the playlists from iTunes on your computer in this section.

If you would like to make these playlists available for offline listening, please follow the steps outlined below from the attached User Guide, page 71.

Add Apple Music. To add music, tap (the 3 dots) next to any result, then tap Add to My Music. To stream an added song to iPhone, tap it within My Music. To save music to iPhone so that you can play it when you don’t have a Wi-Fi or cellular connection, tap Make Available Offline.

Best regards

Thanks for the response.

This statement is unfortunately not true: 'This is because, with Apple Music, all of your playlists are already available on your iPhone.'. Only my itunes purchase show. No other music or play lists show? How do I rectify this please?

Also you mentioned ' the attached User Guide, page 71'. I don't see an attachment?

Greetings Qster5,

Apologies for not including the link. The User Guide is attached below.

If you are unable to see your non purchased music in playlists, there are a of suggestions that may rectify this.

First, check your iPhone and iTunes on your PC to make sure that iCloud Music Library is enabled. The next attached article will explain how verify the settings on both devices.

The following article explains how iCloud Music Library uploaded your non-purchased music to the cloud to make those songs available across all devices.
