Q: Voice memo metadata gone?
After upgrading to iTunes 12.2 on Yosemite, something weird happened. My entire iTunes library was wiped out. Not the files of course, but the iTunes library data. Even after using a copy of library backup to overwrite the iTunesLibrary.itl file, iTunes insisted on wiping that too. So I re-added all of my music and patiently waited for that process to end. Everything went well, except for my voice memos.
None have shown up in iTunes--in fact there doesn't appear to be Voice Memos section anymore (What's up with that?). I've found some on my hard drive in an old iTunes folder and some of these have correct filenames (the ones I gave them on my iPhone prior to transferring them). However I have a ton of numbered voice memo files in an Unknown folder that do not have correct file names but I can see from their creation dates that they are the missing files.
How the heck did these tracks lose their metadata and filename info? They showed up in the last version of iTunes just fine (before the chaos) but now there's no record of their correct names. I don't get what happened here or how to fix. Any ideas out there??
