iphone 5S text alerts

I have seen a huge number of complaints about the text alert sounds not working with Apple iPhones. Why on earth can't Apple attend to the fault? It is so very frustrating. My Text Alert Sounds just do not ring. I miss countless messages and despite going through every routine to resurrect the sounds it is all to no avail. Apple are you listening to us? It is this kind of lack of attention to small details that infuriate Apple users and next time I shall buy Samsung. You never get faults like this with other makes.
