I understand that you have music on your iPhone that is duplicated. It does sound like the music is duplicated on your Mac and automatically syncing when you connect it to your computer. I would recommend deleting the duplicate media as outlined in the troubleshooting article that you located. The same steps apply even though the interface may be slightly different.
Find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library

i have to delete about 100-200 duplicate songs off my iphone EVERYTIME i sync.
THE SONGS ARE NOT DUPLICATED IN MY ITUNES LIBRARY....
someone help? i have found no way to fix the error. i have unchecked sync music, etc... and resynced... next time i plug in to add a song to library, it does it again.
