"Service Battery" 292 cycles

What can I do if my Mid-2011 Air is saying "service battery" after only 292 cycles, when it's supposed to be good for 1000?

My 2012 needed replacement at 185 cycles. Se la vie.

Apple routinely specifies very optimistic specifications for battery charge duration, life expectancy, and number of cycles. The operative phrase is "up to". As in "up to" 10 hours, "up to 5 years", and "up to" 1000 cycles.

You need only understand that it is the nature of advertising to be optimistic.

Yeah, I had to pay $129.00 for a replacement, and just learned to accept it. I still think they are the best consumer computers I have ever owned.
