Q: Why is iBooks still deleting books from yesterday on IPhone 5?

I Tried deleting books from IBooks on my Iphone5 yesterday and they are still deleting! Help

Hold the sleep/wake and home button until the Apple logo appears. Then see if the books are either gone or try to delete them again. You could always delete them off your device through iTunes and then re-sync it. -AJ

I Found in the Apple website that my Iphone5 has the serial # of one that needs the sleep/wake button replaced. Is this faulty button the reason that holding it down and the home button down does not solve my problem?

To restart the device without the use of the Sleep/Wake Button, try Assistive Touch:

Use AssistiveTouch on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Once it's on, just tap the dark square with the circle in it that appears on your screen, tap device, and touch and hold on the lock screen button, that will give you the slide to power off prompt.
