notes sync with gmail

My iPhone notes are syncing with my gmail. But when I try to activate it on my macbook also, it doesn`t allow me to do so. I go to Preferences > Internet accounts > Gmail. When I click on the Notes button, it selects for one second and then deselects automatically, with no explication why! What should I do?
