Trying to load Dropbox on to my iMac with Yosemite. I get to download and then double click Dropbox icon to install. The icon goes to the Dock and bounces back and forth finally coming to rest but that is it. It seems to be trying to load the installer???? You cannot then open Dropbox (is it really there I ask?) and you cannot close the App except by force. (Incidentally my Finder often will not open either.) Managed fine to install on my laptop. Help!

If you also have a problem with the Finder, something could be damaged in your Yosemite installation. Have you tried safe-booting to see if the problem persists? You could also create a new Admin user account to see if the Finder functions correctly if you are logged in as the new user, then try installing Dropbox there if there are no obvious issues.
Thank you thank you! It worked! opening in safe mode that is. I now have Dropbox working and the Finder seems ok too. I cannot tell you how frustrating it all was - I seemed so close and yet so far before your advice.
