Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, you have an iPod that is not being detected in iTunes. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

Aug 21, 2015 4:57 AM in response to mario49by auntyshez,I am experiencing exactly the same issue with my iPod classic. It worked fine this time last week but now I can't sync it. The ipod appears on the left hand menu and it lets me initiate a sync but then rejects.
I have tried following all your suggested posts above (I have windows) and have also tried system restore to before last update and it still doesn't work, This is extremely frustrating as I have new music to add and playlists to amend for our wedding in a week's time.
Please can you suggest how this can be resolved?

Aug 21, 2015 8:57 AM in response to auntyshezby turingtest2,Several users have reported problems syncing iPod classics when Norton AV is active. If you have it try temporarily disabling to see it that allows the iPod to sync. You may also need to reboot or restart the iPod Service for it to work.

Aug 21, 2015 9:55 AM in response to robinfrombanburyby auntyshez,Tried this and still does not sync my ipod classic and says it's not found even when on the display. Worked perfectly last week now nothing but problems and no updates on windows or norton have taken place - just the update of itunes.

Aug 21, 2015 11:09 AM in response to auntyshezby turingtest2,Since you have Norton I would least try the suggestion. It may be blocking an updated iTunes component in error. If so it is likely that Norton will need an update to fix the issue.

Aug 21, 2015 3:00 PM in response to turingtest2by auntyshez,Thanks for your response. I've tried all the suggestions and also restored my pc to earlier date which enabled my ipod to be synced but when i have added my new music and tried to sync it comes up with the same error saying ipod not found. This was with my anti virus disabled. Norton is up to date also.
Extremely frustrating - I am off to buy a Sony mp3 player in the morning to put my wedding music on as I have run out of patience with iTunes.

Aug 22, 2015 10:16 AM in response to turingtest2by UncleKnows,It worked for me. Yes, at least on this end, it appears to be a Norton AV issue. I’m running Norton Internet Security 22.5.2.15 with Windows 7.
I first restarted my PC.
I then Right Clicked the Norton Icon in the Taskbar:
I disabled Smart Firewall, Auto Protect and Turned on Silent Mode.
I started ITunes without the Pod plugged in.
I then plugged in the IPod Classic.
It's a go......Thanks.
