I Have a disc in the external drive and it will not eject. There is no evidence of the disc being in the drive on the screen as would usually appear. Any advice?

Contact the manufacturer of the external disk and/or visit its tech support website/forums.
newer versions os osx does now show mounted drivers on the desktop but if it's not displayed in finder (the mac file manager) then I would try connecting the driver to another computer mac and or pc before forcing it open to retieve the disc before returning it under warranty
can't eject a disc from the external disc drive - can anyone help?
