My connected microphone keeps cutting out after a handful of minutes

I have a external microphone/headset. After a random amount of time 7-20mins the microphone just stops working and the only fix I have found is to unplug then plug back in. After that it will work again for a random amount of time. Anyone have any idea?

I have a early 2015 MacBook Pro 13"

Did you ever find a fix for this? Mine Early 2015 MBA does this too, with several different headphones. Took it in to be fixed and they replaced a daughter card that supposedly had the headset jack on it, but that did not solve the problem.
