Sorry for your loss... How do you "lose" an iMac? It's not like they are easy to misplace...

There isn't much else you can do except file an insurance claim if you reported the loss to the airport security or police and have a report you can give your insurance company.

In my old life, I used to fly with Macs and CRT monitors in Anvil road cases as checked baggage. Possible to lose ones luggage.

NOTE: began shipping same via FedEx a day early because of the anxiety.

Durging security check .... My hand luggage went through and they questioned me about my batteries (AA). I didn't know there was a limit so the security officer took the new packet and not the old loose ones and the frustrated me . I was ****** . Grabbed my luggage ( forgetting that my laptop was Ina separate bin) . Saw security officer put a black case In a bin . flew to Zambia from Dubai just to realize I left it there . called airport lost and found etc ...

no luck . When I flew back to the USA via Dubai I went hunting for it ..... No luck bbut still hopeful !

" laptop " sorta of clears up the confusion... your Question TITLE says = " Lost iMac Abroad  " - an iMac is an all-in-one DesktopMac/Display w/ a wireless keyboard

Let's hope that 'Lost & Found' in Dubai is better than [pick anywhere in the world]

I would not have 'High' hopes.

    * It is possible that "Flight Insurance" would cover such a loss. One used to need to purchase it specifically, but it MAY be possible that if tickets were purchased on a Credit Card, it may be an 'unsung' bonus feature. (I haven't paid attention to such details in quite some time, retired now)

Well that explains things a bit better. I'm guessing it's long gone. On the bright side, at least you didn't miss your flight. Had you done that in the US, and security noticed and remembered who left it there, you probably would have been tackled, arrested, and interrogated for hours. Abandoned bags don't go over well here.

Ok, so the stress caused me to make a typo . It was my macbook pro retina 13 inch ..... I see how people got confused ! Dubai is considered the safest place and people have recovered many things ! So I

    still hopeful though

If "Find my iPhone" hasn't detected it online, I would call that a cause for hope that someone is not trying to use it. I wish you most luck. - ÇÇÇ
