Q: Unable to move apps into folders on the application folder

When I first bought a Mac back in 2007 I was able to customize my dock by making folder and cleaning up all the apps into their perspective folder.

Now I just bought (a few days ago!) a new mac and that option seem to have disappeared.

It or doesn't go into a folder or it duplicates and if I was lucky it went into the folder without a problem!

Then again I want all of my apps inside of folders, thats the way I like to orginanize my mac

Why is it not possible anymore?

Is there something against tidy people?

    Hey aash88aash,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities and congratulations on your new MacBook Air!

It sounds like the Dock isn't behaving as you expect it to on your new notebook. The article below provides a lot of great information about Dock usage in OS X Yosemite and should clarify how it's new features work.

OS X Yosemite: Use the Dock

    Take care.

Software updates like to look in the Applications folder to do their thing, so it is often not good to change where things are.  A popular organizational technique is to create aliases ("shortcuts") to the applications of interest and group those into folders.
