Q: song cannot be played because you are not signed into Apple Music

The song "Intro..." cannot be played because you are not signed in to Apple Music

You must be signed in to Apple Music in order to play Apple Music songs.

I'm getting the above message whenever I try to play any songs on just two albums added via Apple Music.  I'm clearly logged into Apple Music because I can play any of the other albums.  Is there a limit on how many times songs can be played from Apple Music, during the trial period.  The only thing different about the albums are they were among the first two I added after trying the service and have been played more than others.  The other strange things is it only seems to be happening on my Mac Pro under iTunes.  I can play these on my iPad without a problem.

MacBook Pro (17-inch Early 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), itunes 12.2.25

I never get this issue in Mac OS. But Apple Music in Windows is dudding. I have found out that iTunes will cache the songs you listen in your drive. The location should be `C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes\SubscriptionPlayCache`. When you click on a cached song, you will get the boring message all the time: You must be signed...

    3 temporary ways to solve:

    1. Play a song you didn't ever hear before first. Waiting for the requests access into Apple's servers, then click on the songs you want to play.
    2. Do any actions that have a request to Apple's server, then play the songs.
    3. Remove the cache. Just delete the folder I mentioned above.

There are the views of mine. Hoping that Apple will fix the issue soon!

Thanks for this tip.  I spent some time with an apple support person who suggested I delete and re-add albums via My Music, and for some songs it fixed the problem, but not for all.

I was able to find a similar directory on my Mac under ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.iTunes/SubscriptionPlayCache and after deleting this, iTunes can play all of my music again.

I had this issue as well, in iTunes on a Mac. I did not have a file called SubscriptionPlayCache in that directory (or anywhere else), although I did have a few files in the com.apple.tunes folder... so here is what I did to solve the problem:

    1. Dragged the "com.apple.iTunes" folder (from ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.iTunes/) in the trash.

    2. Launched iTunes. Problem persists.

    3. Downloaded new content from AppleMusic, and played new song.

    4. Problem solved, all music plays now.

BTW, this problem began after getting a new Mac and restoring from a TimeMachine backup.

Unfortunately I spoke too soon. I'm having the same problem again and following the earlier instructions doesn't fix it

Are you down loading a new song to your Mac? i.e making it "available offline"... and then playing it (after deleting that file in the caches folder)?

If that does not work... I don't know what to tell you, as that definitely worked for me.

    Good luck,

    Randy

    Thanks Randy.

Yes I was doing exactly that.

I managed to sort it, basically I chose the affected album/song in iTunes, chose Remove Download (this then leaves the song/album entry in the Apple Music/iTunes library but not the actual song/album files)

After choosing the Remove Download option from the menu, the song/album will play fine. After this I can then choose Make Available Offline (this then downloads the song/album again) and once its finished downloading the song/album still plays fine

Strange how your suggestion worked the first time, but not the second time for me

Thanks for your help Randy, appreciate it

    Hi Tal1971,

Did you try downloading completely new content - something you had never downloaded before? That was the key for me (after trashing that cache file).

Hi Randy, thanks for the help.

Yes it was completely new content that I'd downloaded.

Anyhow, I managed to sort it out by doing what I mentioned on the post before your last, so all is good again now

This was very annoying - every time you paused playback for more than a few minutes you would get this warning and have to move to a never previously played track to re-establish the login credentials.

However the latest update (OS X 10.11.1, iTunes 12.3.1.23) seems to have fixed it.

Just had this problem last night. What worked for me was to sign out, and back in. It didn't let me play them immediately after (gave me the same error message) but once it stopped updating the icloud music thing it let me play them again.
