Aug 19, 2015 11:20 AM in response to drobiby elcpu,Drobi, as your friend has found out it is not recommended to share Apple IDs between two people or devices. It can result in all kinds of issues. Your best option, IMO, is to set up two separate IDs, one for each person and each phone and then set up Family Sharing. The instructions for this are in the two articles below. What I am unable to answer out of the top of my head is what happens with past purchases, however I suspect that the Family Sharing option will let you do it.
Sign in with a different Apple ID on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Aug 19, 2015 8:11 PM in response to elcpuby drobi,Thanks for the help, but this couple has asked that they SEVER their financial and other ties, so that they can not be dependent upon each other even when it comes to their Apple IDs. Instead, I used the method of deleting apps that were determined to have been purchased with the wife's account. Then, I re installed the apps using the husband's Apple ID. Hopefully, the next time that an app updates, he will NOT be asked for the password of the APPLE ID his phone used to be associated with. Still a few glitches, but we seemed to have worked it out. Thanks for the advice, regarding Family Sharing. I don't think that was a solution in this PARTICULAR case. I use it in my own family, and it does work well.
Cheers.

Presumably this means that any apps that you used the husband's ID to (re-)purchase any apps that were not free

Aug 19, 2015 8:14 PM in response to drobiby gail from maine,★HelpfulHi drobi,
Yes, that is exactly what he needed to do. Since apps are forever tied to the Apple ID that was used to purchase them, the only way to get them "reassigned" to another Apple ID is to delete them and re-purchase them (or re-download them if they were free) under the Apple ID you want them under. The apps that you had him re-purchase, will no longer ask for his wife's ID. If any others crop up, he will have to do the same with those.
Cheers,
GB

Drobi, now that you explained the "situation" with this couple in detail, your solution makes perfect sense. Based on your first post, it appeared that the Family Sharing option was the way to go but unfortunately this is no longer a "family". IMO you solved your own issue and you did so well - I just wish that I could click and give you points. Instead, this is the best I can do.
