My Ipod Touch 5th gen will no longer charge and the battery is almost dead! Help! (I've tried cleaning the port)

My Ipod Touch 5th Gen is not even 2 years old yet and yesterday it decided that it will no longer charge up. I have tried cleaning out the port with a toothpick but this did not change anything. It is also definitely not the cable or the power source as i've tried several. It will simply not charge up once plugged in, similarly when I connect it to my laptop nothing happens. Any help would be appreciated!
