Preview quits unexpectedly - won't open jpg pictures

Both my iMac and MacBook Pro will not open jpg pictures from w/in Finder (I do not sue iphoto to store / organize my pics). Both are running OS X Yosemite 10.10.5, but this has been happening for a few months now. When I double click a photo, I always get an error "Preview quit unexpectedly". Data has been sent to Apple a few times. Below is a copy / paste of the data (sorry it's a lot - don't know what's important).

Appreciate the help!

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), Happens on MacBook Pro w/ same OS

Same problem here. [Preview has quit unexpectedly]: no matter which .jpg or .png I'm trying to open. Rest of the program seems to be okay though; signature, open recent> clear menu, emojis... all okay. (couldn't find anything else to try)

Can't open files; new, old, clipboard, iPhoto, none. [yosemite 10.10.4 iMac]

Found a .gif to try too... Preview quit unexpectedly. Reopening is no solution, restarting no help, safe mode... tried it but dunno what that did other than not let me move my cursor/pointer.

Quit Preview.

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Remove the following. You may not find them all. Restart and test.

Containers/com.apple.Preview

Containers/com.apple.quicklook.ui.helper

Preferences/com.apple.Preview.LSSharedFileList.plist

Preferences/com.apple.Preview.SandboxedPersistentURLs.LSSharedFileList.plist

Saved Application State/com.apple.Preview.savedState

Tried the steps your suggestion, but, it failed to resolve the problem.

Also tried to fix this by updating Yosemite to 10.10.5, then, tried a fix by reinstalling OS X via; restart, [command] + [R] at grey screen.

Preview Application crashing still persists!

Any suggestions for a similar, but, functioning, app? (I like the cropping and adding text functionality of Preview. Hate GIMP, can't copy paste in Paint 2...)
