If the backup was created with a tool, likely not, but you'll need to look at the drive's contents to tell for certain.

For any which weren't, the method of doing so, along with whether or not it's possible in Mac OS X, depends on the program used to create them; unless you say what it is, it's highly unlikely you'll be able to get a definitive answer.
