No remote control with Bose headphones after IOS 8.4.1 update

After the most recent update to iOS 8.4.1, the Bose QC 20 headphones cannot remotely adjust volume or song playing capabilities. Everything worked fine with the previous iOS operating system. Is this a software issue? My iPhone is a 5S
