It seems as though my apple watch has most of my messages. I do not want my messages from syncing onto my apple watch , I just want it to function as a regular watch. Is there any way of disabling messages from syncing onto my apple watch

You can disable Messages alerts on your Apple Watch.
On the Apple Watch app on your iPhone: go to My Watch (bottom left tab) > Messages > choose Custom at the top > under Alerts, disable each of the options (Show Alerts, Sound and Haptic).
These changes will be applied immediately.
You can also disable Apple Watch alerts for emails.
This also involves amending settings in the Apple Watch app on your iPhone:
My Watch > Mail > choose Custom at the top > under Alerts, disable / deselect Show Alerts.
