Delete photos for a particular year

I tap into Photos and I want to delete a particular year of photos, but when I select the year then select and select again which selects all the photos for that particular year, there is no way to delete them. The garbage can is grayed out. I don't want to hand slect because I have almost 5k pics to remove.

How does one do it on the IPad without having to select each one individually? I have removed from the IMac with no problem, but have not found any way to easily accomplish on the IPad...

Thoughts???

Thanks for any insights...

Hello WagsWorld,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

If you're unable to delete some selected photos directly on your iPad, then they were likely synced to your iPad. In order to delete synced photos, you need to deselect them from your sync preferences in iTunes as shown in the link below.

Delete synced photos

  1. In iTunes, locate and click on your device.
  2. Click Photos.
  3. Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
To delete all synced photos, deselect "Sync Photos from" and, when asked, click "Remove photos."
  4. Click Apply.

The sync was not on between IMac and IPad. Never could see the photos on device

when hooked up to the IMac via ITunes.

I went back into photos on IPad, click down until showing years. Then clicked

first photo in year 2002. Then clicked select, then select again which selected

all photos for 2002. BUT the trash can never gets enabled. always in a grayed

format. So I don't understand why it is so easy or relatively easy from the IMac

on year selection and delete, but no apparent easy way on the IPad.

I need to cleanup for disk space on the IPad. I have exported all the pictures

out that I need to and removed from the IMac with pretty simple click and hold

on shift key.

Thoughts??? ;(
