Q: Calendars not syncing

My calendars sync one way only; i.e. when I enter an event on my iMac calendar it does sync to my iPhone.

However, when I add an event on the iPhone calendar, it does not sync to my iMac.

What could be causing this?

I am having this same problem:

 

I sync using iTunes locally.

Events created on my iMac (OSX 10.8.5, 2009 iMac) will sync to my iPhone 6s.

Events created on my iPhone 6s will NOT sync to my iMac.

 

Any ideas on how to fix this? iCloud is definitely not the answer for me.
