i have changed numbers but the old number is showing on facetime and i cannot change it so cannot use facetime

I have recently acquired an iphone 5 off my daughter and transferred my old number. However the old number (my daughters) is showing in Facetime so I cannot use it?

Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

It sounds like you're now using your daughter's iPhone 5 with your own phone number.

If FaceTime is still registered with her phone number, sign out of Messages and FaceTime and then sign back in:

  • Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
  • Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.

From iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage.

Be sure to sign back in with your own Apple ID. As mentioned in the article above, this will ensure that your phone number is linked with your Apple ID.
