But how do I delete the gmail app? The apple logo appears and then the iPad simply returns to normal, I am trying to delete the app, please help if you can - this issue is driving me potty!

you can set up gmail account without download gmail apps
go to setting general mail and add account

Aug 21, 2015 1:56 AM in response to QUATRE_26by Suzanna Brander,aah i think I have been referring to the app as the gmail app - it is actually the apple mail app which I use to pick up my emails (gmail), the problem I have is whenever I launch the mail app I get a blank screen - therefore I cannot pick up my emails on my gmail account from my iPad, please help

Settings> mail, contacts, calendar>Click on the gmail account> delete account. Then go to settings> mail, contacts, calendar> add account to set up the account again. -AJ
