What happened to the closed captioning on my videos?

when I first got this iPad, all the videos I had uploaded onto it had closed captioning. Now that has changed after the last software update. I enabled the closed cap in settings but that hasn't fixed anything. Does anyone know what might have happened Or how to resolve this? Thanks
