Q: iPhone 5S is continues to search for Other Devices when trying to connect in Bluetooth

Equipment:

     iMac 2008 with OSX 10.10.5

     iPhone 5S with iOS 8.4.1

The iPhone see the iMac, but cannot connect using Bluetooth.

The iMac does not recognize the network connection even after pairing.

The iPhone drops the paired connection the moment I accept the pairing code sent to it from the iMac.

The iMac is about 15cm from the iPhone therefore well within range.

The iPhone keeps searching for other devices to pair in Bluetooth - I think it's searching for an Apple Watch (which does not exist in this household).

How do I stop the iPhone form searching for other devices?

How do I get the iPhone and iMac to communicate?

Thanks for any help you may be able to provide.

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4), 24" Early 2008 Mdl
