I am thinking about buying a new iMac but where I would like to use it, it would not be very practical to have a wire running half way throughout the house. Is it possible to hook on to the existing WiFi connection that we have? or would I have to buy something else?
The Mac has Wi-Fi builtin, so the answer is yes.
So there would be no extra equipment that I would have to buy?

No, if your router is working fine.
Airport is a Wi-Fi router so unless you want to replace your existing router?
So if I have an existing WiFi connection, can I connect my iMac to that?
