My dock disappears when I go to other apps (Chrome) and does not easily unhide when i put the cursor at the bottom. I have the setting checked to keep dock visible all the time but it still disappears. Any suggestions? Thanks

You're probably using full-screen apps, and Dock gets hidden every time you use a full-screen app. Unfortunately, there's not too much you can do about that, apart from using apps like a classic window.
(To get out of full-screen mode, just move the cursor to the top left corner of the display and press the green button).
