Aug 23, 2015 10:09 AM in response to Beccav19by jeremy_v,Hi Beccav19,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It appears that your iPhone doesn't vibrate for calls or notifications after updating to iOS 8.4.1.
To troubleshoot this, first be sure to restart your iPhone.
Next, go to Settings > Sounds and toggle the vibration settings off and on. After doing so, follow these steps from Change sounds, ringtones, and alerts on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch to test the vibration function of your device:
You can also set vibration patterns for alerts:
- Go to Settings > Sounds.
- Select an alert type in the Sounds and Vibrations list.
- Tap Vibration and select a pattern.
If it still doesn't vibrate, I recommend backing up your iPhone and reinstalling iOS using these steps from If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on:
- Connect your device to a computer and open iTunes. If you don't have a computer, you can borrow one, or go to an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for help.
- While your device is connected, force it to restart. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. Don't release when you see the Apple logo. Keep holding until you see the Recovery mode screen.

- When you get the option to restore or update, choose Update. iTunes will try to reinstall iOS without erasing your data.

iTunes will download the software for your device. If it takes more than 15 minutes, your device will exit recovery mode and you'll need to repeat steps 2 and 3 again.
Sincerely.

Jan 25, 2016 4:30 AM in response to jeremy_vby Jeff Guinn,I am having the roughly same problem as Beccav19. I don't know if my 5S failing to vibrate on incoming text messages happened after an update, but despite having Settings > Sounds > Text Tone > Vibrate Only > Alert, nothing happens ever with incoming texts.
You mentioned what to do if the phone doesn't respond when changing vibrations, but mine does. Do you happen to have any suggestions for that case?

Jul 29, 2016 5:03 AM in response to Beccav19by fannare,I finally fixed my vibration on 5s after going through all the forums.
Nobody seems to recognize there is a secondary setting for vibration.
Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Vibration > Toggle ON.
I saw this when I was messing around.
Hope this works for you, not sure how Apple support could have missed this, seems like a tech guy from them should know about this strange setting.
