I have a MacPro (early 2008) [Yosemite 10.10.4], and my internal SSD takes about 20 or more seconds to wake up and start the task. I understand that a conventional HD needs this time, but this is annoying with an SSD. I understand that there is a terminal command to remove hibernation, but other posts warn against it. How can I get the SSD to be more responsive?

Are you using TRIM on that SSD?
I'm sorry, but I don't know what that is. I am reasonably tech savvy, but this is new to me. Is this a setting in preferences or on the SSD itself?

I added TRIM, as noted above, and now the SSD takes at least 30 seconds to wake up. Further, whenever I search a .pdf using Acrobat Pro, it crashes almost every time.
What happens when you now turn TRIM off?
When I turned TRIM off (sudo trimforce disable), the fan came on every time I turned on the computer. It also turned on when I opened a file which required use of the SSD. I gave up and re-added TRIM. At least it wasn't turning on the fan.
