Is iCloud compatible with Outlook 2016?

I've installed Windows 10 and Office 2016. I also installed iCloud and every time I try to access it and synch with my Outlook 2016, a window pops up and says top Repair iCloud installation, then Restart. I've done this twice but still no go.

Is Outlook 2016 too new??? Or is it Windows 10???

Hi all,

I have had this horribly caught amidst the problems I was facing with Windows 8.1 and then I installed Office 2016 and was cruising towards setting up Outlook and some other very essentials for me like Visio and Project. As I needed my iPhone to be simultaneously working on synchronisation as the newer version of Office I was moving quickly iCloud sync app (the recent latest version) has also been installed and immediately after then I realised the grave mistake I did. Any of the Office app would not load and seems some repair would try to solve and crash soon. My emails on Outlook have entirely messed up my situation and I lost good amount of time, money, clients relations and peace of mind. I worked out the best and researched as most of the systems around are predominantly Windows based. Unfortunately I have to do this research and felt this will help you all too.

Office 2016 is backward compatible. Make sure to skip the entire iCloud family of 6.X.X.X version updates while tracking the older versions and see for a stable version.

Yes, Microsoft acknowledge Apple released this version but I don't feel its worth wasting time as neither would compensate any ones loss.

iCloud for Windows 5.1 supports Outlook 2016 -

So, try downloading version before 6.0 as I could find some on filehorse:

http://www.filehorse.com/download-icloud-control-panel/old-versions/

I used the iCloud version 5.2.1.69 and it worked. Office 2016 has been loading with older versions of iCloud (5.2.1.69) and I currently have no issues. I will not be able to rule out that this is sure but I have no options but to use Windows operating systems and so as Office along with the iPhone. So, please do not take my word but backup for your safety. and try this.

Good luck.

Regards

I got it to work on Outlook 2016 my Surface Pro, no problems! (I have a 2016 Surface Pro running Office 365).

1) Download iCloud for Windows

2) On the iCloud "control" page (the part that shows you what to sync to your Windows computer, check Mail, Contacts, Calendars & Tasks with Outlook. (Make sure Outlook is not up and running on your computer).

3) Open up Outlook and there you are! Yay!

I hope this works as seamless for you as it did for me.

Good Luck!

This will help for users with a valid 365 subscription.

Uninstall office 2016. Go to https://support.office.com/?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US&fromAR=1 and click on contact for the product you have subscribed to. Tell them the problem you are having with Icloud not being compatible right now and need to go back. After asking questions and verifying your subscription, the will give you a link to download 365 2013 again. At least until the problem is fixed it works again..

Good luck!

It is iCloud for Windows that needs the update if you are on Outlook 2016. It does not matter if you are on Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 (which is my version). You get an error uninstalling, you get an error reinstalling, and basically, unless you want to completely revert your Office Suite to 2013, we are stuck waiting for Apple to release an update.

That being said, on my MacBook Pro running OS X Yosemite 10.10.5, the Outlook 2016 for Mac is still lacking support for contact (CardDAV) and Calendar (CalDAV) Synchronization formats used by iCloud ... so equally useless on the contacts and calendar side if you want to use Outlook but retrieve an synch the master data from iCloud.

Can Microsoft and Apple please, please fix both of these ... most folks use a blend of both company's technologies ...

I installed office 365 the new 2016 version on my Windows laptop and I installed the latest icloud but it will not set up for Outlook. So as of today Apple has not released a new version of Icloud that will sync with Outlook 2016 on a windows PC. I also was online with Microsoft trying to find a link to go back to Outlook 2013 but they said I could not do that. So I am stuck with all my business contacts and calendars on the cloud and can't get them onto my Outlook where I need them.
