Q: Is iCloud compatible with Outlook 2016?

I've installed Windows 10 and Office 2016. I also installed iCloud and every time I try to access it and synch with my Outlook 2016, a window pops up and says top Repair iCloud installation, then Restart. I've done this twice but still no go.

Is Outlook 2016 too new??? Or is it Windows 10???

Thanks.However. I did not upgrade from 2013 or any other version of Outlook. I had been using 2007 (long story), and had uninstalled it. I then installed 2016 after there was no other Outlook on my system from any vintage. Following the procedure outlined, everything is working fine now. I do have a European version but can't imagine that makes a difference.

Apple does not read these posts.  They are aware of the issue as I've called them.  So far I have a service ticket but no answers as to when the issue will be resolved.  We all need to call 1 800 692 7753 to report the issue and put some pressure on them to fix it.

Please look at this screenshot, its from the apple updater and it shows the

release note of iCloud 5.0 (i mean the red marked statement).

What it says in german -> Outlook 2016 wird nicht unterstützt.

What it means in english  -> Outlook 2016 is not supported

    Nothing more and nothing less.

Stay on Outlook 2013 if you want to sync your contacts etc. through iCloud.

    Otherwise pray for a solution.

    Today there isn´t one.

When I got the English version of the update, I did not see the "not compatible with Office 2016" message.  It is possible that, either it was there and I just didn't see it, it was there in the German version, but not the English version, or it was added recently, after all the tickets and feedback started pouring in.  Regardless, we need to keep the support tickets and feedback coming in as the speed with which Apple will move to fix this is in direct proportion to the number of incidents that get reported.

The installer is multilingual, there is no single german version.

It says not compatible with outlook not office.

It shows that statement on the launchday, not a few days later after customerfeedback.

We had that releasenote already on page 5 or so in this thread.

I agree with you that Apple has to fix this issue immediately.

Its not serious not supporting the actual version of Outlook.

I've always thought of Apple as innovative. Considering the number of days having gone by without a resolution for iCloud to work with Outlook 2016, speaks starkly to the contrary.  (As of now, 13,384 Views and 138 Replies.)

Presuming it is safe to assume that Apple is aware of the problem, we are left to make various conclusions… to name just a few.

    1. 1. Fixing the issue is not a priority.  Is this due to lack of complaints?
    2. 2. Fixing the problem is bigger than Apple has deemed worth fixing at this time.
    3. 3. The decision to not fix it is intentional.  Apple doesn’t have current plans to continue support of iCloud for Outlook.

I selected the iPhone because of iCloud’s ability to sync with Outlook.  And although iCloud has a MAJOR flaw based on my usage, I’m thankful for it.

(To name the iCloud flaw, I use each "Reminder" as a Task.  Each Reminder has a Notes section.  I have LOTS of text within the Notes of each Reminder.  The flaw is that when I input more text than the screen shows, I can't see the text I'm trying to change!  If you input more text in the Notes section than the screen shows and try to edit it, you’ll see what I mean.  I think the solution would be to allow the text to scroll so that when the keyboard opens, you can move the text down so you can see it.)

I did find this link on Apple's website entitled "Get help using Outlook with iCloud for Windows" which was last modified on 10/23/2015.  It has various instructions which include the statement, "iCloud for Windows currently supports Outlook 2007 through 2013.  If you use Outlook 2016, you can access iCloud Mail, Contacts, and Calenders on iCloud.com.

    www.support.apple.com/en-us/HT204571

Get help using Outlook with iCloud for Windows - Apple Support)

For the record, I’m running freshly installed Windows 10 with iCloud 5.0 and am getting the “Repair iCloud for Windows to use iCloud with Outlook” pop-up.

I’m unsure what action I’ll take at this time.  I need a real solution to a real problem.  The solution should come from Apple.  It is not right to allow so many customers to fumble around spending hours reading various suggestions on the web looking for some “work around”.

    Hi everyone,

I’m following this discussion now since page number 3.

Just a question, I think nobody have asked it yet.

Did you consider a third party program? For example, this one: http://www.codetwo.com/sync-for-icloud/thanks

Right now they don’t support Outlook 2016 yet, but the support mentioned that this should be soon the case.

    What do you think?

Yes I know, it shouldn’t be necessary. But if it’s the only help...? And for a few bugs I would afford it, it’s better than installing back and forth my computer, which is my main working and communication device, beside the phone.

    BR

    Thomas

@risch01  The Codetwo "Sync For iCloud" plugin is a cool tool, but it requires iCloud working. What it does is, it seamlessly syncs the iCloud-folders of contacts, calendar entries to any given other folder in Outlook - usually the default ones, so you can use your standard address book w/o switching anything. I have been using it for long. The company offers excellent support. Maybe we should ask them, if they quickly can create a "connector" to iCloud? ;-)

    To Apple and Microsoft:

PLEASE, get this fixed ASAP. It is soon annoying that ical, outlook, iCloud don't communicate with each other every time a new version comes on the market.

These applications communicate neither on the PC nor on the mac side for years...

Please, that's far away from being costumer friendly and drives users away from our platform.

I would assume these are some of the most common used applications - so please, fix it.

Now, thats telling them Andi !!

But please also send direct feedback to apple about this problem via -

    http://www.apple.com/feedback/icloud.html

Can I encourage ALL others having this problem to do the same - the more the merrier, Apple may then sit  up and take notice if they get bombarded with similar messages.

Done.  I sent the following feedback to Apple:

PLEASE provide an update for iCloud that works with Outlook 2016!

If you input more text in the Notes section than the screen shows & try to edit it, you’ll see what I mean. I think a solution would be to allow the text to scroll so that when the keyboard opens)

It is not right to leave so many customers handing without a real solution/update to resolve this very important matter.
