Q: Is iCloud compatible with Outlook 2016?

I came across a posting in here. User "NoOne60" claimed that there is a tool called "Open Protocols Connector" (http://www.arpdev.com/) which enables Outlook 2016 to synchronize all iCloud data - at least all contacts and calender informations. Maybe this is a temporary solution until Apple gets its sh*t together...

Oct 16, 2015 9:51 AMby Tcburns62,I have a subscription to Office 365 and I had upgraded to the office 2016 which as everyone knows Icloud isn't compatible. Well Thank you to Microsoft they have been listening to the users. If you go to your office 365 account and instead of clicking install, go to install options, then advanced install options and there you have an opportunity to install office 365 2013 (uninstall your office 365 2016 first) Also as a foot note use the Office 2013 32bit version even if you have a 64bit operating system other wise Icloud will not work. I did this and then did a repair of icloud, restarted my computer and I am back up and running with my contacts and calendars.

Has anybody here tried the 'Open Protocol Connector' suggested? Im a bit wary as it doesnt specify that it is compatible with Outlook 2016 on the their website (it states it is compatible with Outlook 2013 - but that worked with icloud anyway)
Im wary of installing it to find it buggers up my system (Windows 10 & 365 sub. to Office 2016) even more. (Im having a few glitches with Win 10 that Microsoft hopefully will sort out in the update due shortly).
If anyone tries the suggested program let us all know. Thanks.
Again we shouldnt need to use third party programs to get the problem resolved.
Apple, the balls in your court..again!
Oh and this thread (and myself) are not going to dissapear untill we get a proper resolution from Apple.

After getting Dell back from service center I upgraded a clean Windows 8.1 install to Windows 10 and then did a clean install and setup of Office 2016 prior to installing any Apple software. Cannot make iCloud sync calendars with Outlook 2016. I simply get the error dialog suggesting that I repair Outlook instead.

Oct 17, 2015 8:36 AMby Philip Cognetta,I tried using the OpenProtocols Connector and it does seem promising, however, even though it brings down your iCloud contacts initially into an iCloud Contacts folder within Outlook 2016 it doesn't seem to have the bi-directional update working properly, meaning making a change to a contact from your desktop in the local Outlook 2016 iCloud contacts does not synch back up to Apple's iCloud and hence does not propagate to other devices like iPhone, iPad and my MacBook. It throws an error even though the Port numbers for SSL all seem to match their documentation. This does seem like a good way for individual users to get this to work because it is free for single, home use and it does look like they are actively working on updating their software, but I fear it is not quite ready to replace the (now broken) iCloud for Windows that Apple NEEDS TO FIX. I'm sure I speak for many, many people that this has been extremely frustrating and disruptive making it much more labor intensive to keep data up to date whether calendars or contacts.
Great suggestion but this did not fully work for me unless you can also share your specific configuration settings (port numbers, etc.) that got this to work for you. Many thanks.

I tried it but it only worked one-way, down from iCloud to a contact address book on my Win 10 laptop running Outlook 2016. Subsequent changes locally would throw an error when trying to synch back up to Apple's iCloud so my results were inconsistent. Thanks!

But as I said in a pevious post we surely shouldn't need to rely on a third party program to integrate icloud and outlook to work as seemlesly as it did on prevoius versions.
Now C'mon APPLE, someone there must be aware of this iCloud / Outlook 2016 problem. Can we PLEASE (pretty please with sugar on top) have fix for this!

Apple Support Communities StaffSince Microsoft's release of Office 365 and the accompanying Outlook and Office 2016 suite, the iCloud for Windows component (v4.1) is broken, thus disabling a crucial feature millions rely upon to keep their contacts and calendars in synch between Outlook and iCloud which in turn propagates those updates to iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks.
My former configuration of Windows 10 OS with Outlook 2013 and iCloud for Windows worked flawlessly. You will see within your own support communities the increase frustration that Apple has not addressed this with an update to that package. Your (Apple's) most loyal customers often straddle your devices for phones, tablets and laptops with some that happen to be running Windows as part of managing their everyday activities. It is probably a month since the release of Office 365 and no word on when iCloud for Windows is going to be fixed. People are scrambling to find any reasonable workaround and right now the most prevalent one is to downgrade back to Office and Outlook 2013 which is unsustainable.
APPLE, PLEASE PLEASE HELP FIX THIS!
