Q: Is iCloud compatible with Outlook 2016?

I've installed Windows 10 and Office 2016. I also installed iCloud and every time I try to access it and synch with my Outlook 2016, a window pops up and says top Repair iCloud installation, then Restart. I've done this twice but still no go.

Is Outlook 2016 too new??? Or is it Windows 10???

Update - I uninstalled icloud 5.1 on my windows 10 laptop and restarted. Then reinstalled icloud 5.1 and now all is working. Everything from icloud is syncing with MS Office 365 Outlook.

    Hi,

Sorry you are having such a nightmare with this. Could you confirm which error remains after you've removed the cyberlink thing?

Outlook settings remain because your email profile is not removed when you perform an uninstall (i think).

You could try going to control panel > user accounts > mail >  Profiles, and then remove your profile prior to uninstalling office? This will completely erase all email on your computer and you'll have to re-setup all your accounts. I did this the other day so i'm not sure whether it contributed to helping to solve the problem or not?

I'm not sure if I can publicly release the guys email?

I don't think the support forums have a private messages function?

    James

    James,

Based on your latest response to this soap-opera, I had to create a new Outlook.PST file - which did the trick!

In order to make sure everything was installed correctly, the steps mentioned above were followed again (fourth time) but added deleting the Outlook.PST file located in Documents\Outlook Files. I did create a copy (renamed) of the Outlook.PST so I did no loose any Contacts, Calendars nor Tasks - which were then moved to the new PST file once all was working.

Of course all E-mail accounts (and there are a few) had to be re-created, but after three months of no integration between iCloud and Outlook we are up to speed.

Thank-you for your assistance in this matter. I can finally rest...

    Cheers,

    Marco

This solution corrected all issues.  I uninstalled cloud, updated outlook for office

365 and reinstalled cloud - reboot and presto, life is good again.

    note:

all my email in my @me folder remained -

all my shared folders were intact ie: icloud photos etc.

Is there anyone who still struggles to get iCloud for Windows 5.1 installed in the first place? I removed iCloud 4.1 with Revo as it wasn't working anymore. Since then I have been trying to install both 5.0 and 5.1 with no succes (both from Apple Software Updater and manually, it says there is a problem with the package and that a program that is executed as part of the installation, has not been stopped correctly - not sure if I translate correctly, my system is in Dutch).

The one thing I probably forgot to do was to log out of iCloud when trying to remove (as the uninstaller didn't work).

Glad you got there in the end. I'm not sure i'm ever going to update this program again! It's not worth the hassle.

    Best regards,

ok nevermind. After noticing that Quicktime also was a complete mess, I decided to reset windows 10 and start all over. Took me a little more than 1 hour to do a complete reinstall of my software, but now everything is working as expected.

The lesson is that Apple is not speedy in dealing with major software changes at Microsoft.  In retrospect, many of us wish we had searched for reports of iCloud problems before upgrading to Office 2016 (or Windows 10 for that matter).  However, since both Windows and Office auto-update, it is not clear that we have much control over the timing unless we override auto-updating.

These threads are hard to read but my epic problem with iCloud is OVER with the release of iCloud 5.1 and me running an Office 365 subscription version of Outlook 2016 on a Windows 10, 64 bit computer. Had to uninstall iCloud 5.0 and that was like trying to get rid of an STD and a %&%#$ mess but once i did and installed iCloud 5.1, it worked after a few tries of signing in and out of the iCloud control panel - knew it was done when it took a while to reload my outlook items from iCloud.

Just in the nick of time Apple...I was looking at a MS Surface computer over the weekend that had sweet pen action but **** is that iPad Pro looking pretty. In the future, Apple needs to communicate better because we didn't even know if they were working on the problem over the last several months AND I certainly wont be running out to update Apple software anytime soon because all my stuff was working until I updated to iCloud 5.0 - at least I wont update in the future until enough guinea pigs try it first and say it works.

Hooray!!  The 5.1 iCloud update works!!  I now have full Outlook 2016 sync working again.  It took a while, but all is finally well.  Thanks for the fix Apple!

There is a solution. If you haven't downloaded iCloud into your Windows 10 computer, do so Download iCloud for Windows - Apple Support. Then log into your iCloud account via the application and you will see how to sync your calendars and contacts with Outlook 2016. You will need to build in your iCloud email address into Outlook.

First of all I want to thank everyone for their posts as I am not as knowledgeable about computers as those on this forum but get by.  My problem is I recently bought an HP Spectre 2 in 1 laptop and installed Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and One Note) on it.  On my old desktop computer I had 2007 Office and it included Outlook so I was surprised to find out I had to purchase Outlook 2016 separately.  After loading it, I had trouble transferring my contacts and calendar appointments.  Following advice on this discussion group I got my contacts transferred.  I am confused with all the Calendars showing up on my computer.  I have My Calendar consisting of:  Calendar (this computer only) & Calendar - Personal Folders AND ALSO iCloud consisting of:  Work, Outlook Calendar, Home & Calendar - iCloud.  I entered appointments for mainly December and January and a few other months and after removing the check marks from each of the Calendars I just mentioned I noticed that the appointments are on the Calendar - Personal Folders.  I want my Calendar appointments to show up on my iPhone 6+ (like they use to with Office 2007 on my old computer).  What do I have to do?  Do I need to put all these appointments on Calendar - iCloud located under iCloud and any future appointments I make put on Calendar - iCloud?  Please remember I am not at your level of computer expertise.  Thank you very much!  I really appreciate your help!

In Outlook - you will have which calendars you want to view on the left.  Under "My Calanders & Icloud.

Click  Icloud for the calendar - assuming you have one.

In your Iphone/ios calendar  at the bottom of the screen when you are in calendar .. hit calendar  click all icloud.

that will give you the same calendar on both.

Any synced emails will have a calendar and Facebook may post there as well.

Having one calendar will simplify your life. * once you are in you will see turning off and on calendars will impact how your outlook views, and the data that shows on your iphone etc.  It will make sense.

let me know if that helps.

It looks like I am finally up and running with my new computer.  Thank you so much!  I deleted all my appointments off the "Calendar - Personal Folder" and put them on my "Calendar - iCloud" and I looked on my iPhone and there were my appointments showing up.  This Discussion Group is so helpful.  Have a great day.
