Q: 8.4.1 website navigation no longer works

I have several responsive websites that have used the same drop down navigation menu for 2-3 years and it's always worked fine. It no longer works on iOS since 8.4.1. The drop down on touch no longer works, rendering the navigation useless. I've tested with 4 different iPhones on 8.4.1 and it's broken. I've tested using 8.4 and 8.1.3, it still works.

 

I'm not sure, but I think it may have something to do with this: About the security content of iOS 8.4.1 - Apple Support

An issue existed in how synthetic clicks are generated from tap events that could cause clicks to target other pages. The issue was addressed through restricted click propagation.

 

I'm hoping someone may have a suggestion on how to overcome this. Other threads I've found detailing similar issues with 8.4.1 are:

I was able to fix this by changing the function that calls the dropdown of my menu from a 'click" to 'touchstart', eliminating the 300ms delay. It's possible that FastClick might achieve the same result.

    I have the same problem with a pure css drop menu that no longer works with IOS 8.4.1.  I've tried a few suggestions found online to no avail. I would obviously like to find a solution asap.

    I spent a good part of the day but discovered that if I comment out the follow code deep in my menu css my navigation worked again.

     

    text-shadow:none;

     

    -moz-box-shadow:inset 0 2px 3px 3px #19216b;

    -webkit-box-shadow:inset 0 2px 3px 3px #19216b;

    box-shadow:inset 0 2px 3px 3px #19216b;

     

    Does anybody know why this would be the culprit?

     

    Anyway, maybe it will work for you.

    Website navigation no longer works after upgrading from IOS 8.4 to IOS 8.4.1

     

    I have also this problem after I upgraded my Ipad from IOS 8.4 to IOS 8.4.1.

    I'm happy that I didn't upgrade my Iphone 6.

     

    I use a css menu with submenu's.

    I found out that a css menu with one level (and no submenu's) works fine.

    A css menu with drop down submenus no longer works.

     

    I have created 2 pages,

    - one with a cssmenu without submenu's, see  http://www.meteo-gouda.nl/cssmenu_without_submenu.html

    - one with a cssmenu with a simple dropdown submenu, see http://www.meteo-gouda.nl/cssmenu_with_submenu.html

     

    The first one works well,

    The second one doesn't work at all!

     

    This is very frustrating because we are promoting our weather website at this moment.

    Visitors are increasing heavily, but with a menu and navigating not working is killing.

     

    I hope that apple will come with a solution very quickly!

    Dear dcl186,

     

    I'm happy for you that the problem is solved.

    I'm just using a simple cssmenu, without javascript or Fastclick and the keywords in my menu doesn't use the keywords 'click' or 'touchstart'.

    So i'm still having the problem I once describe below. I hope that other users of a simple cssmenu has found a solution.

    By the way, till yesterday i saw many response and replys on this issue.

    They all seem to be disappeard.
