Did I get hacked? I noticed my Safari browser had some really strange bookmarks

When I opened my Safari browser, I saw some really strange bookmark folders: Windows bookmark, HP site bookmark, My United States folder bookmark and it was empty and some other Windows bookmark. I thought that was very strange cause I don't remember checking HP or Windows, nor do I remember making a bookmark called "My United States" what is that???

I deleted those bookmarks and folders, now its back to normal but I want to know if I was hacked or not. I don't have any Antivirus or Internet security software installed on my iMac, I have downloaded the latest update for the OS X. I was told by an Apple staff when I purchased the iMac that I don't need to have any internet security/antivirus software so I never bothered with it.

Oh, and for some ODD reason I cannot login to Cartoon Network to watch live tv. I'm able to login to my cable provider when I use Chrome but I cannot login when I use Safari. The login page never loads or appear, is there something blocking it? What is going on? And is Safari better than Chrome? I recently started using Safari cause my sister said Chrome is bad and Google tracks your personal info, watch you, etc...

I'm having a hard time adapting to Safari, it looks like IE or something... and do I need antivirus/internet security software for iMac? how do I know if I have spyware, viruses, addware, etc...? is there a way to check without antivirus/internet security software cause the Apple staff from Apple store told me I don't need to buy any security software that Apple computers don't need, but I'm a little worried cause I noticed strange bookmarks on my Safari browser.

If you have the same bookmarks on your other Apple devices that sync with the same iCloud account, it may mean that someone you don't know about has access to the account. In that case, change the password and consider all data in the account to be compromised.

I don't have anything related with HP, Windows or My United States.. no idea what that is 😟 so I unchecked all of those stuff from iCloud, and change my password, whoever have access won't have access anymore? And could you answer the questions about Antivirus/internet security and which browser is better? I wrote a second post after the first one.. I kinda of want to know if i need any security software or not, cause apple staff told me i don't need anything but I'm not sure anymore.

That depends on how he got access in the first place. If he guessed your password, and you changed it to a better one that can't be guessed, then he won't be able to sign in to the account, but he won't necessarily be signed out right away. If you really think the account has been cracked, you should contact Apple Support.
