Q: What happens if I move my local music off my Mac after subscribing to Apple Music?

If I subscribe to Apple Music it will upload my local music to my online library.  If I then move my music library off my Mac to a backup device to free up storage space on my Mac, does the uploaded music remain available in my online library for use on all my devices or does it disappear?

It remains in your iCloud Library. But from then on you will have to rely on streaming to play the music all your devices, you will have to depend upon the Apple Music service (which is a little flaky at times, not bad but definitely there are complaints about it), you may also see issues where the wrong track plays (where Apple Music did not properly match your track and you might get a studio track instead of a live track).

Also, if you use some of the older iPods (not the newer iPod Touch), you won't be able to sync any music to those devices from iTunes.
