Q: Tone control for iPad to 3rd party amplified speaker?
Problem:
How to equalize (adjust treble & base) to an audio signal originating from my iPad v3 through an App (any App) to a 3rd party amplified speaker. I need something that can adjust the audio signal in my iPad from any App that can produce audio signal before it pass out through the iPad's audio jack and to the 3rd party amplified speaker.
Issue:
I'm using Overdrive app on the iPad. It's allows me to download ebooks and audio books from libraries. My iPad is connected with a cable to iHome powered amplified speaker so that I may hear audio books on a larger speaker at a higher volume then the iPad offers. Some audio books sound "clean" others are typically a little "muddy" meaning to much base (rumbling low frequency) and to little treble (clearer, voice quality in the higher frequencies).
In the simpler old days we had pre-amps (or better still an ten band equalizer) in which we could adjust base and treble by simply turning the supplied knobs on the pre-amp. Today in the digital age I have purchase a variety amplified speaker from $29 to $250 dollars and not one of them offers a way to simply adjust the tone (treble & base) on their amplified speaker. I'm at a lost to understand how in this new high tech equipment how a simple quality (tone) control of the sound coming out of the speaker is not provided. Ideas?
I know that on my Apple computer in iTunes there is an equalizer available but it's uses is for iTunes only.
Would greatly appreciate any help you can offer or point me to.
thank,
Karl
