Q: Hi, just restored my iPhone 4s as new now have lost all sounds except for ring tone, but can hear sounds when wearing headphone! Has anyone got similar problem

no alert sounds on iphone4s since restoring iphone as new. help please. Phone working perfectly before restore

I understand that after restoring your iPhone and setting it up as a new device, you are not hearing any sound at all from the built in speaker. To begin the troubleshooting process for this situation, I would recommend reading over and working though the suggested steps outlined in the attached article below. 

 

If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker - Apple Support

    HI Jo

    Thanks did try these steps and can still only hear sound through headset, except for phone ring tone. Off to Genius Bar. Thanks again for taking time to help. I still love my old 4s

    I have the same problem.  Called up Apple support after reading a few posts on Apple forum about this strange behaviour of the iPhone.  Had tried some solutions seen on the forums - but nothing had given any results. The fellow who answered me spoke to some supervisor and came back to tell that the best way to solve my problem was to upgrade to IOS 9...

     

    Well, no.  That did not work either. Not at all.

     

    The only sound my iPhone can now produce - except when using earphones -  is the ring tone when someone calls me.  NO OTHER APP can be heard whether its music, radio apps, notifications, etc.

     

    How does one reach the right dude at Apple to warn them of what I consider as a major malfunction?

     

    Suggestions?
