I have last gen iPod classic running up to date software in it and iTunes and iMac OS X .
It will not sync or restore or hold any data .
Have re-set/re-started iPod many times . Will sometimes send iTunes crazy and have to re-start computer to force quit iTunes .
Don't like new iPods .
Like this one .

I was able to get into the diagnostic setting but am not save enough to dare any more . I retreated .
I did plug into another Mac running iTunes 11.something older but could not restore or rebuild using disk utility . That utility wants NOTHING to do with my iPod .
What numbers did you get from the HDD stats?

As I fiddled around with it, I backed out as I was sure I would trash it so I didn’t record my numbers . I am sure it is not going to work w/Yosemite and there will either be a patch or I will shoot it with a 12g deer slug .
Try again, you won't do it any harm. The numbers should give a clearer picture of whether there is life in it, or it is time to use it for target practice.
