When I had an iPhone 5S, I used iCloud. I did not have this problem.
Restore your phone as new. Use it for 24 hours and see what kind of battery life you get. If you get a reasonable battery life, the problem is most likely with an app you're using or something else in your data.

Aug 22, 2015 10:34 AM in response to Rajun2002by ChrisJ4203,I'm not sure as I don't use anything from iCloud to start with, so I cannot really speak to that. However, I know a lot of people use it and have no issues. I attended an iCloud class at the Apple Store last month as I want to try and start using some of that as kids have moved out to college and sharing calendar would be easier. Just haven't had the time to do it as I'm a college professor and the semester just started for me and I'm too busy now to take time to experiment.

As I instructed you earlier, make your backup for your data. Restoring as new to test. If it works then try restoring your backup. If the problem returns, then your backup contains the problem. You will need to sync back your data separately. Everything you have on your phone, with the exception of certain app data and message history can be synced to a supported application on the computer or iCloud and can be synced back to a device at any time.

So turn off the iCloud features and see if it helps. You don't need permission. I doubt it's the major cause of your problem, though.
If that doesn't work, you'll need to try the restore as new (after making a back up, as noted).

It depends on the user. I use iTunes and the computer to do mine. If you are unsure which one to use, take a look at this support document for some insight on choosing. About backups in iCloud and iTunes - Apple Support

Aug 22, 2015 10:51 AM in response to Rajun2002by ChrisJ4203,You're welcome. Most things about the iPhone have to do with personal preference and personal setting. What works for one may not work for the other. A lot of other things are trial and error and experimentation. Good luck in your search for what works best for you.

Aug 22, 2015 10:54 AM in response to ChrisJ4203by Rajun2002,I've looked at the links (articles) you have sent me I'm going to use iTunes on my macbook pro as using i cloud restricts data and gives you 5gb free but I've used all that up and iTunes used your macs data (which i have 500gb of) so this way i will save paying every month for buying i cloud data which is pointless to buy when i can do it on iTunes on my mac which I'm going to do now i will respond later to what happened after the iTunes restore process i will show screenshots of my battery usage before and after the back up if thats cool with you guys?
