Q: Media keys on iTunes 12.2.2.25 don't work

Hi, I have always used iTunes as my default media player, but since last update (12.2.2.25) it just doesn't recognize the commands on my keyboard (Logitech K800) or even my mouse (Logitech Performance MX). Both of them are wireless, but I don't think this would be an issue. I tried and tested them on my Netflix app for Windows8 and it's working just fine, leaving the problem to iTunes. Do anyone have this same problem? I'm pretty sure it's iTunes because I have to play/pause it all the time and I saw the issue as soon as I opened iTunes after the update. For what is worth, the other buttons as 'back', 'forward' and 'scroll' are working perfectly on my browser.

I don't know if this would help, but here are my configs: Asus M5A97 R2.0 motherboard, AMD FX8350 4Ghz processor, Corsair Vengeance 1x8GB 1600Mhz RAM, Seagate 2TB Sata III HD, PNY GeForce GTX650 1GB Graphic Card, Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit.

It's not the first time Apple broke this. Every two or three versions of iTunes, this gets screwed up.

Things that have no influence whatsoever on the issue:

    • Enabling or disabling full keyboard navigation in iTunes.
    • Running other apps besides iTunes.
    • Running or not running Logitech SetPoint

Things that DO have an influence on the issue.

    • iTunes version >= 12.2.

I have updated on every release. Ever since Windows 10 and 12.2 Itunes, I've had this same problem. Hoping Apple will provide an update/work around to fix this soon™

I found that disabling the Wifi sync with my iPad solved this problem too.  However after disabling the Wifi sync, I also had to go and uncheck/recheck "Enable full keyboard navigation" in the Preferences, and restart iTunes.  Luckily my iPad is the original version and I don't use it much anymore, so Wifi sync isn't a big deal for me.

Edit - the problem has returned.  Obviously the "solution" only works temporarily.

This is probably one for iTunes Feedback, or sign up for a free Apple Developer Connection account and make use of Apple Bug Reporter. They don't generally talk back, but they do claim to read everything.

    This worked for me...

Logitech SetPoint might be the problem (compatibility issues with new iTunes version).

I use Windows, and don't know if Mac users might find a solution in this:

    1- Run NotePad as Administrator

    2- Open players.ini document located in C:\Program Files\Logitech\SetPointP

3- Select ALL and replace with this text extracted from https://forums.logitech.com/t5/Keyboards-and-Keyboard-Mice/SetPoint-PLAYERS-INI- Documentation/td-p/446534

4- Save document and then restart SetPoint

Well my iTunes version is 12.3.1.23, 64 bit. not really sure about why this didn't work for you, I just found this solution in a different forum so I tought I would share it here since it worked for me. Just make sure you followed the steps and you have the latest version of Logitech SetPoint aswell, you can update it directly from the SetPoint configuration window.

Edit: I noticed today when I opened iTunes it didn't work again, just closed iTunes and opened it again, after this everything was all right again... Developers must really fix this weird bugs.
